Can you plug the cords into the TV without a cable box to record shows you want. I know DVD recorders are old but this is the only way to record shows for a college student.

Are there any DVD recorders with a TBC or TIME BASE CORRECTOR installed on them?
I prefer a DVD recorder/VCR combo.
Do they make any units with a TBC in it that an average consumer can afford and use?
If there are any, can you tell me the brand and model?
I need a TBC to make the conversion of old and worn VHS tapes to DVD much better or am I incorrect?

I was under the impression that a DVD recorder was as simple as placing a vHs tape and a blank DVD and press record. I thought the purpose was to convert a vhs into a dvd.

I need something small that I can carry and copy one DVD to another. All I can find are DVD recorders that copy tapes or TV shows to DVD. Anyone know where I can find one?

I connected them with the right cable, but the DVD recorder does not detect the VCR. They are also both working on separate inputs for the TV. What are some possible reasons for this? Is there anything I can do to fix this?
